Darrell Douglas
Senior Vice President, Marketing at HC21 Solutionst

Darrell Douglas, MA has a wide range of HR operations experience at the division and corporate level. His experience includes: safety; labor negotiations; contract administration and advocacy; compensation; benefits; security; compliance; staffing; and, organizational development. Mr. Douglas is the SR VP of Marketing at HC21 SOLUTIONS a coalition that focuses on the design and implementation of strategies to reduce health risks and costs that increase productivity.

Mark Fendrick
Co-Director, University of Michigan

A. Mark Fendrick, MD, is a professor of internal medicine in the School of Medicine and a professor of health management and policy in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan. He currently directs the Health Services Research Core Laboratory and is co-director of the Center for Value-Based Insurance Design at the university. Dr. Fendrick's research focuses on clinical and economic assessment of medical interventions and technological innovation impact on clinical practice and health care systems. He has authored over 200 articles, book chapters, and lectures on health and cost implications of medical interventions. Dr. Fendrick is the co-editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Managed Care and is on editorial boards of other peer-reviewed publications. He serves on the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee. Dr. Fendrick received his bachelor's degree in economics and chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School.

Mary Catherine Person
President, HealthSCOPE Benefits

Mary Catherine Person serves as President for HealthSCOPE Benefits. In this capacity Ms. Person is responsible for claims administration, customer service, sales and account management for the organization. Previously, she served as Executive Vice President for CenBen USA. For many years, Ms. Person’s role was that of Vice President of Managed Care Services for CNA Health Partners, overseeing the company’s network development and medical management efforts. Prior to her employment with HealthSCOPE Benefits, Ms. Person worked for the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy where she gained extensive background in the issues of rural health and the problems employers and providers face in those areas.

Ms. Person received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey.

Mike Evans
Director of Benefits, OK Industries

Mike is Director of Benefits at O.K. Industries in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He has a BSBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and over 20 years experience specializing in Employee Benefits in manufacturing and processing environments. He has been in his current position with O.K. Industries, Inc., a full-line poultry grower, processor and distributor world-wide for four and one-half years. Prior to that, he spent 16 years as Director of Benefits at Riverside Furniture Corporation. Mike is certified as a Professional in Human Resources by the HR Certification Institute. He has served the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) in various positions in the local chapter, including President, and the State Council as State Council Director. In 1999 he was selected as Arkansas HR Professional of the Year. Mike has been actively involved Employers' Health Coalition from its inception in various positions, currently in his 3rd term as Board President.

Kerry Edwards, MD, FACP

Executive Medical Director, Merck

Dr. Kerry Edwards is an Executive Medical Director and is the Team Leader of the Southeast Region Medical Director Program in U.S. Medical Affairs.

Dr. Edwards received his undergraduate B.S. degree in Microbiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. He attended medical school and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA in 1986. Dr. Edwards completed a residency in Internal Medicine at University of Florida College of Medicine at Shands Hospital. He served as Chief Resident of Medicine in 1990-1991 and joined the Division of Internal Medicine. Dr. Edwards served as an Associate Professor of Medicine until September, 1997, when he joined Merck as a Regional Medical Director.

Richard Jones

Director of Human Resources, City of Fort Smith, AR

Richard Jones is currently the Director of Human Resources for the City of Fort Smith Arkansas a position he has held since September of 2001. His human resources experience began in 1988 with Safeway Stores and Harvest Foods in Arkansas. His previous experience includes Senior Human Resources Generalist with the National Governors' Association in Washington DC and the Assistant Director of Human Resources with Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Richard earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas Little Rock in1988. He also earned a Master of Arts in Human Resources Development from Webster University in 2001. Richard has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources since 2000.

Caryol Hendricks

Executive Director, Employers' Health Coalition

Caryol Hendricks serves as the Executive Director of Employers' Health Coalition (EHC). EHC is a non-profit organization of self-insured employers in the Hot Springs and Fort Smith market. Ms. Hendricks has served in that capacity since the foundation of the Coalition in 1994. Prior to that she was the Executive Director of Buyers' Healthcare Co-Operative of Greater Fort Smith.

Caryol represents the Employers' Health Coalition on the leadership council of the Regional Quality Initiative and is currently serving her second term to the Arkansas Governor's Roundtable on Healthcare. Caryol also serves on the Board of Governor's for National Business Coalition on Health as well as chairing the Governmental Affairs Committee. Additionally, she is the voice of employers on many other committees and boards that work to improve the quality, while controlling the cost of healthcare in Arkansas and on the National level.
